They believe it is due to them using online resources versus the books. While I believe you can get just as quality research (even more so) while doing things online, I think they have a valid point in that associates don't know authoritative resources. And with the advent of WestlawNext, they aren't required to know titles such as Moore's, etc. <br /><br />If they cannot detect the primary sources to use on Lexis or Westlaw, why would we believe they would be able to determine what's authoritative in a Google search? <br /><br />I think free news has it's place. If I'm unfamiliar with a company that has a generic name, I will sometimes do a Google search to get a sense of where they are located and what type of services they do before I go to Lexis to do a more in-depth search. And like you, sometimes I have to go back to Google to pull anything because there's just simply not anything there on our paid databases. <br /><br />But we primarily rely on these paid databases because we know they have authoritative resources.indie librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14499729690129266003noreply@blogger.com
